Weekly Wrap-up

In my life this week…

Just hanging out at home, working on a special project, and praying (LOTS and LOTS of praying)! I also started Blogging for Books. The first review is on Cindy Woodsmall’s The Harvest of Grace and will be posted soon!

In our homeschool this week…

Our week started on Sunday which is very unusual for us. Actually, I have never counted a Saturday or a Sunday as a school day, but I have decided that WeatherFest was such a great success that I really should count it.

Here is Middle Sis with Reed from the Discovery Channel show Storm Chasers. Click here to read more about WeatherFest

It was a typical stay-at-home week. Middle Sis and Big Sis have been practicing with the seminary choir in preparation for Crescent City Praise.

We have finished up our unit study on Bold Believers in Pakistan. They can easily find Pakistan on a map, identify two cities, and discuss interesting facts about the culture. I am proud that all three have tried chappati. Middle Sis and Lil Sis actually liked it!!! Most importantly, they recognize the way that Christians are often treated and are praying for them on a regular basis. Next, we move on to Bold Believers in India.

WeatherFest inspired science lab this week. I was going to continue the human anatomy study, but the clouds were wonderful on Wednesday. In addition, I had picked up some free things for everyone. So we started a unit on weather.  We will go back to human anatomy and do a few lessons if it ever gets cold.

Spending lots of time reading. Middle Sis finished The Hunger Games. Big Sis (who doesn’t really like to read) is still working on the trilogy. Lil Sis finished the final book in the Percy Jackson series. Not sure what she is going to read next. She likes to read in one of the laundry baskets. Unfortunately, she doesn’t fold and put away the cloths that are in the basket before she hops in to read for a while.

Lil Sis found this slug that she wanted to exam on one of our walks. Another one of God’s amazing creatures!!!

Middle Sis had a little impromptu craft project. She turned a “little girl” journal book into her own personal tween/teen journal with the help of some magazines, scissors, and glue.

My favorite thing this week was…

Being reminded to live a life that is Unglued for Jesus!

What’s working/not working for us…

Staying up late and sleeping late. We are definitely night people. With the exception of Lil Sis, we do not like to communicate early in the morning. I love flexibility, but we really do need to get up and get moving by a certain time. I am going to start with 9am and see how that works.

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…

Pop and Memaw are coming down this weekend for Crescent City Praise. It is always great to have them here in the Big Easy with us.

I’m cooking…

Red beans and rice – a New Orleans favorite 🙂
